<p>Winona Daily News, 21 Jan 2011 edition - - </p><p>LA CROSSE, Wis. - Lucile Katherine (Blumentritt) Larson, 93, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at her home in La Crosse.</p> <p>She was born on March 25, 1917, in Money Creek (Houston) Minn., the daughter of Frank and Katie (Murray) Blumentritt. Lucile graduated from Winona High School in 1934 and then attended Winona Teachers College. She married Lawrence A. Larson on Sept. 1, 1937, in Dakota, Minn., and together they enjoyed 53 years of happily married life. To this union was born four sons and one daughter.</p> <p>Lucile worked for several years at the Gund Home in La Crosse and then as the Recreation Director at Oak Forest Home in Onalaska for 20 years, retiring in 1964.</p> <p>An important day in Lucile's life was when she accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior and sought to live her life as a testimony to God's love for her. She was a faithful and devoted Christian who will always be remembered for her loving care of family and friends, faithfully remembering birthdays and special days in their lives. She was an inspiration to those around her with her kind and generous spirit and always willing to help those in need. She was an excellent cook and baker and renowned for her homemade breads and apple pies. Lucile also enjoyed reading, gardening and needlework.</p> <p>Lucile is survived by her three sons, Lynn (Sandra) of Mazomanie, Alan (Sally) of Madison, Ted (Wendy) of La Crosse, and daughter, Laurel (Mark) Komarek of Stoddard; a daughter-in-law Sandra (Todd) Tumbleston of Conconully, Wash.; 13 grandchildren, Brent (Lois) Larson of Akron, Ohio, Susan (Joel) Cooper of Lodi, Nancy (Todd) Hefty of Monticello, Leigh (Kelly) Larson of Wayzata, Minn., Lawrence (Christina) Larson of McFarland, Layne (Sarah) Larson of Madison; Andrew (Sarah Gaskell) Larson of Madison, Aron Larson of Portland, Ore., Brian Larson of La Crosse, Tim (Jonna) Larson of Minot AFB, N.D., Kelli, Katie & Austin Larson of La Crosse; 16 great-grandchildren, Anna, Heidi, Peter & Daniel Larson; Grant, Logan & Morgan Larson, Nathan, Devin and Collin Cooper; Elizabeth and Lucy Mae Larson, Keith Mac and Ivy Gaskell-Larson, Jaideyn and Levi Larson, along with nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.</p> <p>In addition to her parents, Lucile was preceded in death by her husband in 1991, her beloved son, Keith in 1999, and her three brothers, Harold, Earl and Edward, and an infant sister.</p> <p>Lucile will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She always said the best times in her life were spent with family and friends, but she looked forward to going ‘home' to be with the Lord, and being reunited with loved ones.</p> <p>Lucile's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kyla Lee, the Hospice nurses and staff, and to her very special home caregivers for their kindness, compassion and devotion to make our Mother's life so much easier and comfortable in her later years.</p> <p>Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse, WI. Evangelists Allan Christopherson and Eric McCullough will officiate.</p> <p>Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place at a later date in the Bush Cemetery, Pleasant Hill Township, Winona County.</p>
