    <p><font face="arial,helvetica,sans-serif">James and Adelaide were survivors of the &quot;HIBERNIA&#39; shipwreak in 1833. Adelaide was pregnant at the time.</font></p><p><font face="Arial">The ill-fated vessel had on board 232 passenger emigrating to Australia.&nbsp; Of these 150 were lost.</font></p><p><font face="Arial">Their long boat and gig were picked up (after six days and nights) by the convict ship Lotos andt he brig Isabella, out of Guernsey.&nbsp; Taken to Rio arriving into port on the 20th and 21st.&nbsp; </font></p><p><font face="Arial">A subscription was immediately commenced by the British merchants, and about one thousand four hundred pound stirling was raised for the servivers.</font></p><p><font face="Arial">Many of the passengers were invited to the homes of the merchants and larger contributions were make from their wardrobes.</font></p><p><font face="Arial">The Brig Adelaide transported the survivors to Hobart.</font></p><p><font face="Arial">Adelaide gave birth to Robert 27th March 1833.</font></p><p><font face="Arial">Both Adelaide and James wer in such poor health that the older Campbell children were placed in the Queen&#39;s Ophan School.</font></p><p><font face="Arial">James and Adelaide moved to Launceston where James became a customs constable, Harriett was bor here.</font></p><p><font face="Arial">On 5/02/1837 their children were given back to them after a 4 year battle with the school authorities.&nbsp; The Colonial Secretary ordered thir release.</font></p>
