He was one of the most important Prince 13th Century and the founder of Tyrol as an independent country.</p> <p>As the son of Count Meinhard I. fell to him by inheritance in 1271 the county of Tyrol. His brother Albert I. received the possessions in Friuli, Istria, Carinthia, and in Pusteria.</p> <p>He became famous by coining the " Zwainzigers ", the first German Silbergroßmünze, Which was widely imitated. He supported Rudolf I von Habsburg in the conflict with King Ottokar II of Bohemia and was chosen in 1286 to Princes collected and the Duchy of Carinthia fief .</p> <p>Together with his wife Elisabeth of Bavaria, The widow of Hohenstaufen Konrad IVHe founded in 1284 , the Cistercian monastery Stams in Tyrol, where he found his grave. His daughter Elisabeth married Albrecht I., the German king of the years 1298 to 1308 , and became the ancestor of all later Habsburgs.
