Emma immigrated to the USA on October 7th, 1884. She arrived in New York City, NY on that date. The ships manifest stated her destination was Illinois. She was traveling with an 89 year old woman by the name of Anna (Casbaunna - spelling not clear but that's what it looks like) Fisch. She traveled on the Normandie. Her Port of Departure was La Harve, France. She was 14 years old. It does not state relationship to the person she traveled with so I don't know if this was a grandmother or great grandmother. It does raise questions. Why was a 14 year old traveling with an 89 year old woman. Where were her parents? Already in Illinois???

The next documentable fact is she married Charles George Host on August 3rd, 1889 in Chicago, Illinois. I believe by a Justice of the Peace.

She and Charles had four children: Eda Bertha, Peter William, John Dixon, and Edward George.

In 1900 she and Charles lived at 522 Pearl Street in Aurora, Illinois. In 1910 they lived at 223 Hinckley Street in Aurora, Illinois (wondering if this isn't what I knew as 1140 Hinckley St.) In 1920 they lived at 357 Montgomery/Naperville Road Aurora, Illinois. By 1930 she was living in Downers Grove, Illinois with Edward and Alice Host.

She deeded the Hinckley Street property to John D & Carolyn M Host on September 18th, 1943. The Original Document gave them 10 lots in Block 3 of Luck's New Addition to Aurora. Lots were 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 36, 37 38, 39 and 40.For $1.00 and other good and valuable consideration. There was a mortgage on the property to John & Carolyn for $1,800.00. Grandpa still owned 2 of the lots, they included the lot the house sat on and the one next door that he used for a garden, when he died on January 17th, 1989.

She died on July 17th, 1948 in Downers Grove, Illinois. She was 78 years old.
