Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at First Congregational Church, Garrison. Burial will be in Garrison City Cemetery.<br><br>Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at First Congregational Church, Garrison.<br><br>Christ Delzer was born Aug. 11, 1917, to Henry and Katharina Delzer of rural Benedict, the second youngest of 11 children.<br><br>He married Laina Roberts on Nov. 1, 1940. Christ and Laina lived together on the farm for almost 60 years. She passed away Sept. 9, 2000. He farmed until 1982, when he turned the farming operation over to his sons. Christ continued to live on the farm until moving into the Garrison Care Center in May 2007.<br><br>He was active in the Douglas Methodist Church and joined the Garrison Congregational Church when the Douglas church closed. Christ was on the Douglas Township Board, belonged to the Oddfellows Lodge, was a 4-H leader and a charter member of the Douglas Nifty Fifties.<br><br>Christ was an avid fisherman and adept at hunting. In later years, he grew a large garden, had a large apple crop every year, kept an eye on both the birds at the bird feeder and his sons farming operations from his living room window.<br><br>He is survived by his brother, Ted Delzer, Fergus Falls, Minn., and sister, Lorraine Nelson, Kalispell, Mont.; daughters, Phyllis (Dean) Albert, River Falls, Wis., Donna (Mike) Jones, Indianapolis, and Doris (Steve) Zidon, Grand Forks; sons, David Delzer (fiancee, Linda), Richfield, Minn., Tim (Linda) Delzer, Douglas, Tom (Merna) Delzer, Garrison, and Jeff Delzer, Underwood; son-in-law, Don Weninger (Rose), Harvey; sisters-in-law, Mildred Roberts, Minot, and June Roberts, Douglas; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.<br><br>He was preceded in death by his wife, Laina; daughters, Carolyn (Don) Weninger and Darlene (Doris' twin) at an early age; daughter-in-law, Gail Delzer; his parents; three brothers; and five sisters.<br><br></td></tr></tbody>
