<p> </p> <p><span style="font-size: large;">Mr. Andrew Bogaard, age 87 of Lynden, died at the Christian Health Care Center on Tuesday, May 17.</span><br><br><span style="font-size: large;">Andy was born September 24, 1917 in Hospers, Iowa and was the son of John and Maggie (Oordt) Uittenbogaard. </span><br><br><span style="font-size: large;">At the age of 16 he moved to the Lynden area where he was married to Tracy Hamstra on October 12, 1938. Following her death in 1966 he was married to Johanna Baar on October 18, 1967; she preceded him in June of 1995.</span><br><br><span style="font-size: large;">Andy was employed for a time as a feed salesman and then in 1954 started Bogaard Hay Company in Lynden which he operated until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church in Lynden and enjoyed fishing and traveling.</span><br><br><span style="font-size: large;">Mr. Bogaard is survived by his children Gordon (Janice) Bogaard, Virginia Hubbard, Carole (Darryl) VanderYacht and Phillip (Charlotte) Bogaard; step-children Gary (Cheryl) Baar, Henry John Baar, Gracene (Fred) Polinder, Beth Ann DeKoster, Narlene (Ken) VanBeek and Nadine (Jim) Carberry all of Lynden; 10 grand and 9 great-grandchildren; 14 step-grand and 7 step-great-grandchildren; sister Gladys Malmstrom-Speck of Polson, MT. and numerous other relatives. He was also preceded by brothers Art and Gerald Bogaard and three infant children.</span><br><br><span style="font-size: large;">Visitation hours will be from 1 to 9 pm on Thursday, May 19, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden.</span><br><span style="font-size: large;">Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, May 20, at 1:15 p.m. in Monumenta Cemetery followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. in Grace Baptist Fellowship, 339 North Park St., Lynden, with Pastor Jim Carberry officiating.</span><br><br><span style="font-size: large;">Memorials may be made to the Christian Health Care Center; 855 Aaron Dr.; Lynden, WA. 98264.</span><br><br><span style="font-size: large;">-Obituary from Gillies Funeral Home.</span><br> </p>
