Occupation note: Marcella worked as a clerk in a local store. When Goldblatt's Department Store opened, she went to work there. Her husband, "Slim" was a steelworker in the mills. He was a colorful character and always called Marcella "Old Biscuit." She was not fond of this name.

Recollections of Albert Alt by Donald Steinhauser: I recall Uncle "Slim" as a fun-loving, steet-wise, joyful person. He called Aunt Marcella "biscuit" in a kidding way. He was my favorite uncle because he enjoyed kidding around with the kids as well as with the adults. I believe they spent most of their lives in a steel town in either Indiana or Illinois. Slim lost sight in one eye I believe due to an accident at his job in the steel mill. After they retired, they moved to a farm outside of Republic, Ohio. My dad spent a summer remodeling their house. I helped as I could. Uncle Slim paid me ten dollars for the work I did.
