<p><font size="4"><strong>Charles Slade Abt 1821-</strong></font></p><p><font size="3">At the time of the 1841 census, Thomas Stevens (30) (Blacksmith) and his wife, Sarah (25) were living at Wooburn Green, nr. Wooburn, Buckinghamshire with their three children: Sarah (8); George (7) and Edward Stevens (2), and two men thought to be Sarah Stevens' brothers or cousins: Charles (20) (Blacksmith) and _____ Slade (25). They were also Blacksmiths. Apart from the children who were born in Buckinghamshire, the adults were all born in (an)other county/ties according to the census return. </font></p><p><font size="3">Living next door to Thomas Stevens and his extended family in Wooburn Green was Emma Joel (17) (Farm Servant) (b. Buckinghamshire) who would later become Charles Slade's wife. She was living with the Russell family at the time. *She does not appear in the 1841 census using the search engine. </font></p><p><font size="3">Charles Slade m. Amersham, Buckinghamshire with their four children: William (6); Alfred (5); Henry (2) and 'Anne' Slade (1) & a 'visitor' called Eliza Friar (U) (21) (Lacemaker) (b. Wycombe, Buck). All the children were born in Coleshill, Hertfordshire according to the return.</font></p><p><font size="3">At the time of the 1861 census, Charles Slade (37) (Master Blacksmith) and his wife, Emma (35) (b. Woburn, Buckinghamshire) were still living at Coleshill Green, nr. Amersham, Buckinghamshire. They had nine children: William (17) (Journeyman Blacksmith); Alfred (15) (Scholar); Henry (13) (Scholar); 'Angelna' (Angelina) (11) (Scholar); Thomas (9) (Scholar); Emma (7) (Scholar); Jane (5) (Scholar); Sarah (3) (Scholar) and Charles Slade (2). All the children were born in Coleshill, Hertfordshire like their father.</font></p><p><font size="3">At the time of the 1871 census, Charles Slade (50) (Blacksmith) and his wife, Emma (48) (b. Wooburn, Buckinghamshire) were living at Coleshill Green with four of their children: Thomas (20) (Blacksmith); Emma (18) (Servant); Sarah (15) (Scholar) and Charles Slade (11) (Scholar), and Charles' unmarried 'nephew', Edward Slade (20) (Agricultural Labourer). Apart from Emma, the extended family were all born in Coleshill, Hertfordshire.</font></p><p><font size="3">At the time of the 1881 census, Charles Slade (61) (Blacksmith) and his wife, Emma (56) (Blacksmith's wife) (b. Wooburn Green, Buckinghamshire) were living in a 'Cottage', in Coleshill Green (next door to Thomas Slade and his family) with two of their children: Jane (26) (Bead worker) and James Slade (18) (Blacksmith), and their 'Grandson', Allen Slade (8 months) (b. Reading, Berkshire). John and James were thought to have been brothers of Charles and Sarah Slade although this has not been confirmed. </font></p><p><font size="3">At the time of the 1861 census, John Slade (39) (b. Coleshill, Hertfordshire) (Agricultural Labourer) and his wife, Charlotte (31) (b. Radnage, Buckinghamshire) (Lace maker) were living at Coleshill Green (next door to Charles Slade and his family) with their four children: John (12) (b. Radnage, Buckinghamshire) (Agricultural Labourer); William (5) (Scholar), Edwin (3) and Sarah Ann Slade (5 months), and a 'Lodger' called James Slade (23) (Agricultural Labourer). The three youngest children and James Slade were all born in Coleshill, Hertfordshire according to the census return. </font></p><p><font size="3">By 1868 when their son, Benjamin Slade was born, John Slade and his family had moved to Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire.</font></p><p><font size="3">During the 1871 census, John Slade (40) (Agricultural Labourer) (b. Chalfont, Buckinghamshire) (Straw plaiter) were living at Coleshill Green (next to Charles Slade and his family) with their four children: George (20) (Agricultural Labourer); Alfred (17) (Agricultural Labourer); Joseph (1_) (Agricultural Labourer) and Lydia Slade (7) (Scholar). Apart from Mary, the rest of the familu were all born in Coleshill, Hertfordshire according to the census return.</font> </p><p><font size="3">At the time of the 1881 census, Thomas Slade (56) (Agricultural Labourer) and his wife, Mary A. (54) were living in a Cottage next door to Charles Slade and his family at Coleshill Green, nr. All were born in Coleshill, Hertfordshire according to the census which does not accord with the 1871 census return where it was recorded that Thomas Slade's wife, Mary was born in Chalfont, Buckinghamshire.</font></p><p><font size="4"><strong>James Slade b. abt. 1838</strong></font></p><p><font size="3">Thought to have been a brother of Charles and Sarah Slade. </font></p><p><font size="3">At the time of the 1861 census, John Slade (39) (b.
