  • Story: Obituary For Henrietta Spittler

    <p align="center"><strong>Mrs. Spittler, 80, West Prairie, Dies in Winona</strong></p><p align="left">Galesville, Wis. __(Special to The Republican-Herald)__Mrs. P.J. Spitler, 80, West Prairie, Wis., died at 12:30 a.m. today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.H. Rost, Winona, after a long illness.</p><p align="left">Mrs. Spittler, formerly Henrietta Beseler, was born May 15, 1860, near Bluff Siding in Buffalo County.&nbsp; She was married to Peter J. Spittler December 25, 1878.&nbsp; After their marriage, they resided at Marshland, Wis., where Mr. Spittler was employed as a carpenter for the railway.&nbsp; In 1890, they moved to a farm on West Prairie where they spent the remainder of their married life.&nbsp; They were among the oldest residents of West Prairie.</p><p align="left">Mr. Spittler died two years ago.&nbsp; They had eight children: four of whom are dead.&nbsp; One son died as an infant; William, Waseca; Mrs. Otto (Anna) Fischer, Waseca and Gardner, Portland, Ore.; also are dead.</p><p align="left">Survivors are four children: Mrs. A. H. (Emma) Rose, Winona; John and Lee Spittler, West Prairie and Mrs. Harry (Henrietta) DeMond, Gary, Indiana; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.</p><p align="left">Funeral services will be conducted at the home at West Prairie at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. Alfred Abrahamson of Trempealeau officiating.&nbsp; Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, West Prairie.&nbsp; Six grandsons will be pallbearers.</p>
