<p>Mary Frances "Pam" Devine died peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009. Our mother and Gramma Sweetie Pie was born Sept. 13, 1926, to Luke F. and Alice H. (Buckner) McGavin. After her father died at an early age, her mother married George B. Hammond.<br><br>Pam attended local schools and graduated from Butte High School. She also attended college in Bozeman and Missoula. On Nov. 8, 1947, Pam married John "Jack" L. Devine at St. Joseph's Church. They were married for 55 years when Jack died in 2003.<br><br>Pam worked as a bookkeeper for many years and finished her career as librarian for Hillcrest Elementary. After retiring she worked many hours helping to set up the Butte Literacy Center.<br><br>She is survived by her son, Ken, in Butte and daughter and son-in-law Mary Alyce and Greg Manning in Rathdrum, Idaho. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Jacinda, Sabrina and Marissa Manning.<br><br>Pam was preceded in death by her husband Jack; her parents; and her dear Auntie Zella and Uncle Johnny Ellis.<br><br>A special thanks to Arlene Christenot for her help and care during Pam's Alzheimer's sickness.
