<p>Taken from the Tri City Herald {Pasco, Washington} 22 Sep 1952</p><p>3 KENNEWICKITES DIE IN CAR CRASH</p><p> Gerald Ervin Acorn, 30 of 721 South Hartford Street, Kennewick, died Sunday night at a Boise hospital, bringing the toll to three person dead in a tragic highway collison near Hammett, Idaho early Sunday morning.</p><p> Acorn's wife, Mrs Ruby Fay Acorn, 24, and her brother Willie Bob Rowell, aged 20, also of Kennewick, were reported dead shortly after Acorn's car struck a concrete bridge abutment on U.S. highway 30, two miles west of Hammett around 5 am Sunday.</p><p> Officers were unable to determine which of the party was driving Acorn's 1950 sedan when the accident occuried, The car was demolished.</p><p> Injured in the accident, but expected to survive are the dead couples two children. Velma Lavon, age three, and Deborah Glee, age six months, the orphaned children received laccrations and bruises in the collision.</p><p> The Tragedy overtook the family as they were returning from a vacation trip to Rush Springs, Okla. where relatives of Mrs. Acorn and Rowell live. Neighbors of the Acorn Family said Acorn was employed by General Electric at Richland and believed he was to have returned to his job Monday morning following his annual vaction.</p><p> Acorn, who was listed in "critical" condition from head injuries following the accident passed away Sunday evening at a Boise hospital, about 60 miles from the scene of the crash, where he and his two daughters were taken.</p><p> He is survived by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. G. E. Acron, 1611 Perking, Richland; four sisters, Mrs Berry Howard, 822 South Fruitland, Kennewick; Mrs Radphord Howard and Mrs Hugh McColley, both of Richland and a sister Miss Blanche Acorn who lives with her parents.</p><p> In addition, he is survivied by his grandmother Mrs. K.E. Acorn, Kenerwick; a cousin E.H. Washam, Kennewick and a great Uncle Milt James, now visiting in Kennewick from Colorado.</p><p> Mr. and Mrs. Acora formerly lived in Richland, but moved to Kennewick several months ago when they purchased their home.</p><p> Mrs. Acora is survived by her two daughters, her mother and several brothers in Oklahoma, and one sister in North Dakota.</p><p> Willie Bob Rowell, the third victim of the tragic accident, is survived by his wift, Evelyn Rowell, and a three-months old boy, both of Kennewick. They had been staying with her parents in Prosser while Rowell was on his vacation trip. He is also survived by his mother,several brothers and a sister in North Dakota.</p><p> Rowell was an employe of Johnny's Minute-Man Service in Richland. He came to the Tri City area from Oklahoma about five years ago, and was married about 2 1/2 years ago.</p><p> </p><p> </p>
