Semmel, 60, of Palmerton R.3, died Friday in Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of<br>Corrine (Brobst) Bubbenmoyer Semmel. They were married five years in October.<br><br>He worked for more than 32 years at the former New Jersey Zinc Company of Pennsylvania,<br>Palmerton. He worked in the plant for 13 years. Semmel was the union president of the United Steelworkers of America Local 3317, Palmerton for six terms - 1976, 1979, 1982, 1985, 1988, and 1991-present. He also was shop steward, grievance committeeman, trustee, vice president, and served on eight negotiating committees for the union. He was a legislative committee delegate to state<br>conventions, delegate to District 9 conferences, and was elected twice as a constitutional convention delegate. He was vice president and served on the executive committee of the Zinc City Federal Credit<br>Union.<br><br>Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Edwin and Mary (Papay) Semmel.<br><br>He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palmerton.<br><br>He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He also served in the Pennsylvania<br>National Guard.<br><br>Survivors: Wife; sons, David D. and Mark E., and daughter, Susan wife of Blaise Gegekus, all of<br>Palmerton; stepsons, Steve R. Bubbenmoyer of Palmerton and Scott R. Bubbenmoyer of Lehighton;<br>stepdaughter, Mrs. Connie L. Horvat of Pottstown; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.<br><br>Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 175 S. 3rd St., Lehighton. Call<br>7-8:30 p.m. Monday, Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton and noon-1 p.m. Tuesday<br>in the church.</blockquote>
