• Story: Angelina Tinetti's Birthplace

Cheryl Sucharsky (Merry Lee Holt, Anita Emanuel, Mary Victoria Stefani, Angelina Tinetti) found Angelina Tinetti's house where she was born on a trip to Italy. Here is her story of finding it:

"So here's the story behind how I found the house that Great Grandma Angelina Tinetti was born and raised in.

I have a copy of the Stefani Family tree that Virginia Gould had done for my Grandma Anita Holt from...the 70's. Within this family tree is a page... of pictures regarding this house. Being that we were living in Europe and were taking a family driving trip to Italy one of the things I decided we would do is look for the house.

The only information we had was that it was in a village called Valia, near Torino(Turin). We stopped at a gas station on the autostrade a bit before we got to Torino, while there I went inside and asked, with my NO Italian if anyone knew of this town, Valia. Of course, no one I was speaking to spoke much English either, with lots of pointing and sign language I gathered that we should check up in the hills at the next exit, so we did...

We pulled into a town called Torre Canavese and I got the idea to stop at a business, something that looked like a town office of some sort, so we did. Oddly enough we had pulled into the town registrar's office. The woman I spoke to was very proficient in English. I told her what I was looking for and why and showed her the page of the family tree. Her response was, "I think I know where that house is, if you can wait 20 minutes, when I close I will take you there." We said that would be great. Shortly thereafter we followed her to the house. At the top of the road we turned onto there was villlage name sign that said "VALIA". About a half mile down the road was the house.

The woman that drove us there spoke to the man who lived next door to the house, he did not speak any English so she translated. He said the owners did not live there and that all he knew was that it had been used as a "barn". I'm not sure that he meant a barn as we know barns, I think he meant more like a storage place. I don't think he understood that I was talking about a place that was built in the mid 1800's because he thought I might be looking for the house he lived in {next door) that was a fairly new house in comparison. Like I said no one lived there and so it was all locked up so we could not go inside. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the same house.

It's a very short video but I find it pretty cool that we found it."

I put the video on You Tube, link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pywkKKmo5wU&feature=youtu.be

YouTube - Videos from this email
