<p>I think that the medal he is sporting is the British War Medal from WW1 but then they ere not issued till 1921 and the photo is earlier than that. He may be wearing A Queens South Africa fromm the Boer War and the picture taken about 1915 or so<br>[10:24:39 PM] mike jones: The other choice is that the photo was from 1915ish and the medal might be some imperial Long Service award for service in the period 1913 - 1914</p>

<p>Outdoor portrait of 1843 Corporal Frederick James Meenah, 2nd Australian Remount Unit from Brisbane, Queensland mounted on a horse. A 43 year old labourer prior to enlisting on 17 September 1915, he embarked for overseas with 7 Squadron from Sydney on 10 November 1915 aboard RMS Orontes. He served in Egypt before returning to Australia on 23 November 1918.</p>
