    <p>*** IN LOVING MEMORY OF ***<br>Eugene &quot;Papa Gene&quot; LaVern Brennick was born on Friday; July 8, 1927 at home in rural Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. &quot;Papa Gene&quot; was the son of Fredrick and Olive Lucille (Gunderson) Brennick. He graduated from the Dunbar High School and then served our country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. </p><p>On Sunday; December 14, 1947, he was united in marriage to Mable Petrie in Gilman; Marshall County, Iowa. They have resided in the Dillon and Dunbar area where they farmed and he was employed at Martin-Marietta and Fisher Controls until retiring. Eugene was a hardworking, loving husband and father who enjoyed his family, fishing, word-find puzzles and helping neighbors and friends. He will be greatly missed by many. </p><p>Eugene &quot;Papa Gene&quot; LaVern Brennick, age 80, of Dunbar; Marshall County, Iowa passed away early Monday morning; November 5, 2007 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. Those left to mourn his passing are: His loving wife of 60 years: Mable. His children: Susan &amp; her husband: Norm Cook. Pam &amp; her husband: Robin Mann. JoAnn Holder, Sharon Wolken, Sandra &amp; her husband: Kurt Karns and Christopher &amp; his wife: Debbie Brennick. Twenty grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and a host of friends. </p><p>In death he has rejoined his parents, his son: Dennis LaVern Brennick, his grandson: K.C. Karns and his sister: Marilyn Millard. May they rest in peace. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday; November 7, 2007. Funeral services celebrating Gene&#39;s life will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday; November 8, 2007 at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Dillon with Pastor Fred Berry officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Dillon with full military honors by the Gilman American Legion.</p>
