    <div style="haslayout: 1"><strong>Family Notices</strong><div><p style="margin: 0px 10px; color: #888888; font-size: smaller"><font color="#000000"><font size="2"><span>&nbsp;On the 4th November, at Taranto, near Sydney, &nbsp; &nbsp;</span><span> New South Wales, aged 80 years, after an illness</span><span> of 7 days, Mr. Richard MAXWORTHY, for many</span><span> years a resident of Fremantle, Swan River. The</span><span> tidings of his demise has caused much sorrow to</span><span> his children, and grand children in this colony.</span><span> Mr M. entered the service, and was present in</span></font></font><font size="2"><span><font color="#000000"> many of the Naval engagements fought in defence&nbsp;</font></span><font color="#000000"><span>of his country.     <font size="4"><em>From:</em> &quot;Peter Galanakis&quot; &lt; </font><font size="4">galanakispet@acn.gr</font><font size="4">&gt; <br><em>Subject:</em> [PJ] Workshop - marriage <br><em>Date:</em> Mon, 14 Oct 2002 09:19:29 +0300 <br></font>Good morning listers,<br><br>Don&#39;t quite know where to start with this lot, the tale so far, is so convoluted that we still haven&#39;t worked it all out (and I don&#39;t think we ever will)<br><br>RICHARD MOXWORTHY/MAXWORTHY (Hero 1808, life) <br>There is a marriage (IGI) for a Richard Maxworthy in London in 1803 and 3 children born but I have yet to verify that it is this guy, so I&#39;ll start with what I do know.<br>RICHARD MOXWORTHY marries <br>SARAH/CELIA McLAUGHLAN (William Pitt 1806)<br>11 May 1811 at St Johns Parramatta by Rev. Samuel Marsden.<br>Witness was JOHN EYRE a member of the Misssionary Society.<br>3 children were born from this marriage, James 11 Feb 1811, Ann 10 Feb 1813 and Richard 4 May 1815.<br><br>In 1816 and again in 1820 SARAH/CELIA McLAUGHLAN was sent to Newcastle for theft where she had 2 children<br>MARY ANN McLOUGHLIN 28 Apr 1818, dau of MICHAEL LOGAN and<br>GEORGE LATHAM 12 Jun 1821, son of ROBERT LATHAM<br>By 1823 CELIA is back in Sydney and living with JAMES LAVELL at Windsor where she has another 2 children<br>ALEXANDER WORTHY 25 Nov 1823, son of JAMES LAVELL and<br>MARGARET WORTHY 7 Mar 1826, dau of JAMES LAVELL.<br>In 1823 SARAH/CELIA McLAUGHLIN applied for Permission to Marry at Windsor but so far have found no evidence that a marriage took place.<br><br>In the meantime husband RICHARD MOXWORTHY is also in a de-facto relationship with ANN McGENNIS/McGUINESS (Alexander 1816) and has 2 children <br>JOHN WORTHY 4 Aug 1820 and<br>SARAH WORTHY 27 Mar 1822<br>By 1823 ANN McGENNIS had dissappeared, supposedly she has died but cannot find a death. There is a marriage for a ANN McGENNIS &amp; JAMES CONNOLLY in 1828 district CM and also a son JAMES born in 1829 but have yet to check this lead out.<br><br>Now in 1823 RICHARD MOXWORTHY returned to England and (you guessed it) re-married 8 Nov 1824 to MARY ANN WRIGHT at St John of Wapping, Middlesex. On his marriage cert. he is listed as a widower. They have two children in London<br>RICHARD MAXWORTHY 25 Sept 1826 and<br>MARY ANN MAXWORTHY 28 Jan 1828.<br>In Oct 1829 RICHARD and family imigrate to Perth WA where another 5 children are born. There RICHARD settles until the death of his wife in 1859 and in 1860 he returns to NSW and lives out the rest of his days with his daughter ANN by SARAH/CELIA McLAUGHLIN. Richard died 4 Nov 1861.<br><br>SARAH WORTHY/MAXWORTHY dau of RICHARD and ANN McGENNIS married<br>by Banns 5 June 1843 to ABRAHAM WITHERS (Captain Cook 1833, C of F 1841) at Hunters Hill by Rev GEORGE FURNESS. Witnesses JAMES ? and EPHRAME HOCKING. They had 2 children <br>ABRAHAM ISAAC WITHERS 11 Oct 1853 and<br>SARAH WITHERS 19 Nov 1855.<br>On 14 July 1856 Sarah Worthy dies of consumption and on 16 Mar 1858 ABRAHAM remarries to<br>MARY ANN BARNES at Obourne NSW by RICHARD WILLIAM YOUNG. Witnesses are JOHN EARLE &amp; SARAH ROBERTS. No children are born from this marriage.<br><br>This is a brief outline of a lot of research conducted by many people (and is still on-going). 3 of whom are descended through Richard Maxworthy &amp; Ann McGennis (me included) and another 3 or more are descended through Richard Maxworthy &amp; his last wife Mary Ann Wright.<br><br>All the best for now<br>Therese<br>in a very stormy Greece.<br><br><br>
