Life Story
 • Story: P.E.I. Molyneaux's

Frances (Fannie) Molyneaux, our 4th GGM, history brushes past her as wife of Moses Dow ( Rev War), I was compelled and so went on a mission to find out more about her. Not an easy task and this is still an ongoing, complicated, an often confusing search with a large gap in her ancestrial line of GGF's and few GGM's. The name Molyneaux is difficult as it has so many vairitions, however I have ascertained all are of the same origin for our line.

Molyneaux, Molyneux, Molineaux, Molineux, Mollineaux, Mollineux, Molyneax, Molynax, Molineax, Molinax, Mollinax, the varriations go on and on, and with the De Molyneaux's etc. and the Mullins, Molines, Mullens, Moleyns, The list is into the lOO's.

For our tree, I have used the spelling for each ancestor that I have found to be the one used most often for that person throughout my research.

Excerpts from original e-mail, my thanks to Jo Morris

Fannie's father Robert was born abt 1715/16 in PEl to Robert Molyneaux
(no wife listed) b. abt 1670, supposedly in France. His parents were listed as Edmund Molyneaux and Jane Cheney, Edmund was listed as having been born abt 1647, and listed as of Lancastershire, England. Jane was listed as of Buckinghamshire, England. They also had another son besides Robert. His name was Joachin, b. abt 1672 in Buckinghamshire, England.
I suppose that would have technically made Fannie's GF French, but his family was all English and Irish.
As far as Fannie's father being listed as Pere Molyneaux, I believe Pere means father in french, so the author obviously didn't know his given name, so just called him father Molyneaux.

Dear Beauxje, I received information about 5-6 years ago that indicated Fannie Was the daughter of Robert Molyneaux, born abt 1716, PEl and that she was born on Prince Edward Island in Canada, and that there was a Robert Molyneaux in Boston in 1790 according to the 1790 census. There was no wife listed for Robert, but there were children.

1. James, b. abt 1737 PEl, Married Elizabeth Patteshall, 27 Dec 1757 Boston.
2. Michael, b. abt 1760 PEl, died 1798 Boston, M. Elizabeth Colby
3. Robert, b. 1760 PEl, d. 1806, Roxbury, Suffolk Ma, M. Margaret McHard kast 8 dec 1789; Boston MA.
4. Fannie, b. abt 1761, PEl, d. 1 Jan 1845, Hinesburg, Chittenden, Vt. M. Moses Dow 25 Jan 1780, Deering, Hil1sbourough, NH'
5. William, b. abt 1762 PEl, d. 1819, no place listed
6. Janette (Jane) b. 23 Dec 1766, PEl. M. John Ripley in 1791.
