Henny had come to the United States with her sister, Johanne Ohlrich, and her cousin, Albert Weber, to visit relatives in Nebraska. When she made the trip to the United States again, she was expected to return home again. Instead she eloped with a recent widower, George Washington Hartman, in Scotts Bluff in November 1889.

Henny was the second wife of George Washington Hartman and the mother of Carl Hartman and twins, Stanley Hartman Thoelecke (Adopted by Julius and Lyde Thoelecke)and Baby Girl Hartman. She was the step-mother of Alan Hartman and Laura Hartman.

The twins were the second set of twins born on Aristocracy Hill of the Douglas community in 1892. Unfortunately, the girl twin passed away shortly after birth.

Henny had complications when she gave birth to her son, Carl, and it was recommended that she not get pregnant again. She did.

On April 1, 1892, Henny gave birth to a boy and a girl. Many women in the community came to her aid in hope that she would recover, but she passed away three weeks after the birth of her twins.

Apparently there was a headstone, but it was vandalized and no longer marks her grave. As her great-grandchild, I hope the grave can be located eventually so I can replace her headstone and her baby's headstone, too. I visited Douglas in July 2011 hoping to locate her grave.

By 1900, Henny's husband had remarried and was living in Omaha, Nebraska working as a meat cutter and raising his sons, Alan and Carl.

Family links:
Spouse:
George Washington Hartman (1857 - 1944)

Children:
Carl O.
