<p>John Flavin ( Flahavin ) was born in April of 1837 and was Baptised on May 1 at St Marys Church Dungarvan,Waterford Co Ireland .In 1843 the family immigrated from Ireland to the united states, moved west from New York to Fon Du Lac ( Alto)Wisconsin and in the 1860 census is living with , father Dagglin ,Mother Bridget and sister Catherine and Brother Patrick .In 1867 he Marries Mary Brown who is also an Irish Immigrant (1851),and they have a child in 1868 and name it after his Father Dagglin .In 1870 his sister Catherine 39 years old and Dagglin The father 70 years old both pass away, and the family moves west to south Dakota . In the 1870 censes they are living in Yankton S Dakota. 1n 1880 John has four children Dagglin 12 James 10 Catherine 7 and Marie (Murai) 2 .In 1885 Mary Brown Flavin passes away at 34 years old (possibly in Childbirth ) and John puts his three daughters on a train for Fon Du Lac to live with the browns (Thomas and Margaret) and the children never see him again ,Where he sent his sons no one Knows ,but in 1900 he is living in Sturgis Meade S Dak and he has payed cash for 80 acres of property. <p>This is a claim for Homestead for my Great Great Grandfather John Flavin who was born in Dungarvan Ireland and immigrated to the United States in May of 1843, stopping in New York for a short time then moving on to Fond Du Lac Wisconsin . In 1870 His father died at 70 years of age ,and he along with his wife and child moved west to Yankton Dakota territory where they had 4 more children .His Mother , Brother , sister and their families also moved west settling in Sturgis Dakota territory. Shortly after this claim was filed his wife passes away and the family separated at this point we know the whereabouts of three of his five children.
