Very few written documents have survived from the 12th century in Sweden, and so it is a matter of opinion whether he is purely legendary or not.</font></p><p><font color="#000000">According to </font><font color="#000000">Olaus Petri</font><font color="#000000">, he would have been a younger son of King </font><font color="#000000">Sverker I of Sweden</font><font color="#000000">, possibly from his marriage with </font><font color="#000000">Rikissa of Poland</font><font color="#000000">.
