<em><font face="arial,helvetica,sans-serif" size="3">Artiist and lithographer as was his father befor, he was made a freeman of the city of Exeter. After bancrupcy, he moved to Plymouth and became a music teacher. All three of his sons joined the Royal Marine Service as bandsmen. William (Jack), and Ernist, after service, Joined the Merchant Navy as musicians on the Cunard Liners. Charles deserted his ship in Tasmania and changed his name to Ashworth. After exemplary service in the Australian army in WW2 he was given a full pardon and reverted to his birth name but had to incorporate Ashworth, thus:- Charles Henry Ashworth - Spreat.</font></em>
