<p>During WW1 George served with the East Yorkshire Regiment.2nd/4th Bn. He was posted to Bermuda. While there he tried to save a young boy who was fishing and had fallen into the sea. Both were drowned. He was given a military funeral, his coffin was taken for burial on a gun carriage. He is buried in the Prospect Hill Military Cemetery, Hamilton, Bermuda.</p><p><strong>Cemetery/Memorial Historical Information:</strong></p><p>During the First World War, Bermuda was garrisoned successively by the2nd Lincolns, the Royal Canadian Regiment, the 38thBn. Canadian Infantry and the 2/4th East Yorkshire Regiment. the 3rd Bn. Jamaica War Contingent was there between March and April 1916. Propect Hill Military Cemetery contains 17 Commonwealth burials of the WW1 and 4 from WW2. </p>
