Family story given by Dorothy Brown Collier (his great granddaughter) that G.W. Toliver's father left a Texas estate of $2800 to each granddaughter, namely Georgia Tolliver Brown (later Wright) and Eva Meeks. It was said that G.W. Tolliver left Harriet and the children on horseback and didn't see his family again for 28 years. The family believes this G.W. Tolliver was probably the father of G.W. Tolliver who was born in 1847.

Story further states he married Rhoda Howard /and Harreit (Harriet) Amity Turknick (Turknitt/Turknett); (Chester Wright a grandson remembers the name of Rhoda Howard however Ardie Wright, a granddaughter has hand written his wife as Hariett Amity) Whoever Rhoda Howard is??? in relation to George Washington Tolliver, a family story further goes on to say that Rhoda's father was a stow-away on a ship our of Turkey. He was nicknamed "Brownie" Turknick, but it was not his real Turkish name. He lived in Mississippi. Rhoda Howard or Amity Harriet Turknick: was described as "blue-eyed Grandma Keener"born in Mississippi and listed on 1920 census. Listed in handwriting of granddaughter Ardie Wright Brown as Mrs. H. A. Keener. Born June 3, 1855 and had no education. she married G.W. Tolliver and later had other marriages.

GW worked as a mechanic and lived in Hamilton, Hamilton Co, TX.
