George and his two brother, John and Thomas, were arrested and convicted of highway robbery. They were sentenced to transportation and arrived in Sydney, NSW in 1819 on the "Recovery". All three are listed in the 1828 Census, under the name of Irby (mixed up among the "J's"). By then George had obtained his Ticket of Leave.
