Ann, born in 1786 in London, England, was a granddaughter of King George III of England and Hannah Lightfoot. Ann and two of her sisters, Mary and Elizabeth along with their brother Robert were sent along with their mother, Mary Dawson, to New York due to political conditions involving their father Buxton Lawn in England. They settled in the New Orleans area. Buxton earlier had fled to America in fear of his life due to political problems. He was suddenly called back to England while his wife and children were enroute to America, and died shortly after returning to England. Ann and her three siblings married and settled in Louisiana and Mississippi. Seven other siblings did not make the journey to America with their mother.
