Lowell, 1899)</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span>Sir Walter Perceval was born in 1325 to Sir John Perceval and Millicent de Santo Mauro.<span> </span>He married Alice Acton and after his father's death in 1339 he inherited Eastbury.<span> </span>Later Weston-in-Gordano came into his possession. </span></p> <p><span>In 1346 at age 21 he was knighted on the field of battle by King Edward II (1327 - 1377).<span> </span>The battle was Cressy at </span><span>Agincourt</span><span> where outnumbered English bowmen wiped out the attacking French mounted knights.<span> </span>It was one of a series of battles collectively known as the Hundred Years War. </span></p> <p><span>Walter and Alice had at least one son named Ralph who was born in 1347.<span> </span>Walter died in 1349 at age 24 most likely from the Black Death which struck </span><span>England</span><span> in that year.<span> </span>The Black Death was the first appearance of the bubonic plague which killed off a quarter of the population of </span><span>Europe</span><span>.</span></p> <p> </p>
