    <font size="1"><p><font size="3">Elkhorn Independant- 14 Feb 1924</font></p><p><font size="3">Early Walworth County Resident Dies This Week-</font></p><p><font size="3">Mrs. John Farrar, early Walworth county pioneer, passed away at her home on South Broad street, Sunday afternoon at two o&#39;clock.&nbsp; Mrs. Farrar had been an invalid for over twelve years, during which time her husband has taken entire care of her.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Her death followed a week&#39;s illness after a stroke of paralysis. </font></p><p><font size="3">Adaresta Wales was born&nbsp;September 22, 1847,&nbsp;at Plymouth, New York, and&nbsp;was the daughter of Frederick and Laura Wales.&nbsp; At the age of sixteen she came with her parents to Walworth county, settling in Elkhorn. She was united in marriage November 30, 1871, to John Farrar, and they made their home on a farm near Delavan Mound.&nbsp; Thirty-one years ago they left the farm home, coming to Elkhorn, and a little later building the place which has been their home for many years.</font></p><p><font size="3">Mr. and Mrs. Farrar&nbsp;had been married fifty-two years.&nbsp; They celebrated their golden wedding two years ago.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mrs. Farrar&nbsp;was a member of the Congregational Church. </font></p><p><font size="3">Besides her husband, three children survive:&nbsp;Harry, of Elkhorn; Will of Chicago; and Laura, Mrs. E.G. Davis.&nbsp; One daughter, Mrs. Hilah Madouse died two years ago. She&nbsp;also leaves&nbsp;two sisters, Mrs. T. W.&nbsp;Morefield, and Mrs.&nbsp;G. B. Dunlap; three brothers, Arthur and Walter Wales of Elkhorn and Eli Wales, Long Beach, California. </font></p><p><font size="3">Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at two o&#39; clock in the home, Rev. A. B. Bell officiating.&nbsp; The Princess quartet sang.&nbsp; I. A. Travis, H. N. Stubbs, Henry Tubbs, Otis Allen, J. C. Livingston and John MacKenzie acted as pall bearers.&nbsp; The body was laid to rest in Hazel Ridge cemetery.</font></p><p><font size="3">The following people came to attend the funeral:&nbsp; James Farrar, Mason City, Iowa; Mrs. E. G. DAvis, Mr. and Mrs. Will Farrar and Mr. and Mrs. W. Moore all of Chicago.</font></p></font>
