Kelliker of </span><span style="font-size: 9pt">Brunswick</span><span style="font-size: 9pt">, a</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">wholesale grocery salesman</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">known to hundreds of merchants</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">in </span><span style="font-size: 9pt">Missouri</span><span style="font-size: 9pt"> and bordering states,</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">has retired after 52 years on the</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">road.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt; font-family: arial">A salesman </span><span style="font-size: 9.5pt">for the A. C. L.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">Haase Company of </span><span style="font-size: 9pt">St. Louis</span><span style="font-size: 9pt"> in</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">recent years, Mr. Kelliker wound</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">up his affairs with the firm this</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">month.<span> </span>Now, he thinks he will </span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">have time to do a lot of things</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">he has planned – if he can just</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt"><span> </span>remember what they were.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt"><span> </span>Mr. Kelliker’s career as a </span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">salesman began when he was a</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">"junior clerk" in the A. G. Kennedy</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">grocery. He decided then;</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">it was to be a "drummer's" life </span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9.5pt">for him and at the age of 20 he </span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">landed his first real job as a</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">salesman for the Charles Donovan</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">Cigar Company of </span><span style="font-size: 9pt">St. Lou</span><span style="font-size: 9.5pt">is</span><span style="font-size: 9.5pt">.</span></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size: 9pt">Life Not Easy</span></strong></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">A drummers life was rugged</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">before the turn of the century.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">Some made their rounds by</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">train but Kelliker traveled the</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">dirt and mud roads of </span><span style="font-size: 9pt">Missouri</span><span style="font-size: 9pt"></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">by horse and buggy. It took him</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">60 days to cover his territory.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">Drummers went out along with</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">the horse and buggy and salesmen</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">came in about the time the</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">motor car was taking over. The</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">new mode of travel was welcomed</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">by Mr. Kelliker and he</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">has worn out a good many cars.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">In the ensuing years he has</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">worked for several major wholesale</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">grocerv houses, including</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">H. W. Gildehause and the Goddard</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">Grocery Company. In his</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">Work with the Haase company.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">Importers of olives and other Spanish</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt"><span> </span>foods, he handled </span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">accounts in the larger cities of</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9pt">Missouris</span><span style="font-size: 9pt"> and </span><span style="font-size: 9pt">Iowa</span><span style="font-size: 9pt">.<span> </span>Two sons,</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9.5pt">Robert A Kelliker, Jr., and Raymond</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9.5pt">Kelliker both of </span><span style="font-size: 9.5pt">Kansas City</span><span style="font-size: 9.5pt"></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9.5pt">are employed as salesmen</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9.5pt">for the same company.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 9.5pt">1.13.1950</span></p>
