Birth: Feb. 15, 1922Death: Oct. 12, 1997<br>Edward Dermer, 75, of Merino, died Monday, Oct. 13, 1997 in Sterling.<br>Visitation and viewing will begin at 12 noon on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997 at the Chaney-Walters Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997 at the Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark VanHouse. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.<br>Memorials can be made to the Merino schools or to the Peace Lutheran Church.<br>Mr. Dermer was born Feb.15, 1922 in Sterling to Gottlieb Dermer and Margaret Engleman.<br>He was a 75 year member of the Peace Lutheran Church, served for 25 years on the RE 4J School Board at Merino as president, a past member and chairman of the Logan County High School Committee, a member of County School Reorganization Committee, chairman of Logan County School Board Association, chairman of South Platte Ditch Co. Board.<br>Mr. Dermer was a beloved member of his church and community, serving both for most of his adult life. While education of the students in Merino School District as a big priority, he was also an avid fan and supporter of Merino athletics and was often seen as a spectator of both boys and girls sports.<br>Mr. Dermer was truly a native son of Merino, living on the same place for 70 of his 75 years.<br>Family, church, school, and community were the priorities in his life and hours spent on these were never seen as chores, but as a joy that he could be of service.<br>After he was born, the family lived in Iliff until 1927 when they moved to Merino.<br> <br> <br>Family links: <br> Parents:<br> Gottlieb Dermer (1889 - 1972)<br> Katherine M.
