• Story: Tremonti Family Northern Italy, Lorenzago And Udine

Jan 2012 Edited for privacy -

I truly think it is no coincidence that the surnames and places of my husband's ancestors and yours match, and must be related, especially after seeing the surname Mainardi you posted on your Ancestry Family Tree, who married into the Tremonti Family from that particular region of northern Italy in Lorenzago and Udine, which I know is 100% correct, because I have the Italian documented records and information I from Ancestry and Italy. Oren (my father-in-law) received letters from his uncle, aunts, and cousins in Udine and Lorenzago some many years ago, especially right after his Uncle Luigi died, but I'm happy to say he kept and stored all those letters, including some old photos from those relatives who unfortunately, he never met. He went into the Army and was sent to the Pacific Theater in WWII, and lived to be a ripe old age, but never really traveled much at all.
I'll be glad to share any info we have with you and yours. I'll start by saying that Oren's father was Giulio Tremonti, who emigrated to America in 1907, and was married to Angelina Bottos, who was originaly born in Sesto al Reghena, but whose family moved to Lorenzago, and I believe the two families knew each other, so it may have been an arranged marriage, but can't be sure about that. She followed Giulio to America the following year. Unfortunately, Giulio died in S.F. when Oren was only 2 yrs old, and Angelina was unable to care for her boy financially, so she was forced to leave him with foster care, while she had just enough money to go back to Italy, alone. Later she returned with a few cousins and in-laws who were from Udine and Lorenzago, and together, I believe they purchased and operated a restaurant in S.F.
Her birth record was the most difficult of all to find, due to mispellings, etc. Recently I started writing to each of the provinces in the northern region of Italy, and received one satisfactory response, finally getting her birth certificate record in the mail from Sesto Al Reghena. We were happily surprised!
All these various towns: Udine, Lorenzago, Pordenone, Sesto al Reghena, were within miles of each other, but the Tremonti history began there.
To answer your question regarding the maiden name of Oren's wife, (my mother-in-law, now deceased).....it's Bianchini.
By the way, thank you for making the correction regarding the 1930 Sonoma County Census Record for Oren.
About 4 years ago, I created a Family Album that I compiled from all those many different document pages, etc. and put them all into a large 3-hole binder, which currently consists of a total of 280 pages per album so far, that will be treasured for years to come by our grandchildren and any future grandchildren. This morning I spoke to a Rep at Ancestry who indicated I can send to have these albums made into a book, but I am not quite finished, because I also am in the middle of writing a Family Biography about the lives of Giulio and his parents, grandparents, and g-grandparents from all the documented info and notes I have to go on, so I will wait till I'm done to have it published into a hardcover book.
My heritage also derives from Italy, so I have four family albums, and Ancestry has been wonderful, allowing me to post and receive msg's on line to other possible family relatives, and even those who are not relatives, but absolutely wonderful people who share the same names with both my side and that of my husband's side of the family.

L.
