<p><font size="2"><font face="arial,helvetica,sans-serif">According to some newpaper articals and family member recollections John J Housiaux (snr) was a soldier with the 5th Cavelry and his wife, an army nurse.</font></font></p><p><font face="arial,helvetica,sans-serif" size="2">He was a Dipatcher for President Abe Lincol</font><font size="2"><font face="arial,helvetica,sans-serif">n and he and his wife oten dined with mr & mrs Lincoln (as reported in the washington newspapers)He had files for land in the La Prele county in 1865 and having served in the 5th Calv; in 1869, left the army in 1871 to take up ranching for Gen; King near Ft;Sanders in Albany County. and later on, Hay ranching on Diamond Creek a few miles from Ft;Russell. In 1876, he returned to the army as a civilian Pack train driver for Gen;Crooks campain against the Souix Indians. He died in 1902.<br></font></font></p>
