  • Story: 60th Wedding Anniversary

    Maryborough Chronicle dated Monday, 21 February, 1927:<br> &quot;Very rarely it falls to the lot of a couple to live to celebrate the diamond jubilee of their wedded life. On Thursday, February 18, Mr and Mrs H. Mohr, of Newtown, two of the oldest and most highly esteemed residents of that city, celebrated their diamond jubilee wedding, and occasion was taken by the family to do honour to their worthy parents, who are still hale and hearty at the ages of 86 and 85 years respectively. Those present included three daughters of the venerable couple; Mrs C. F. A. Beyer (Bundaberg), Mrs W. M. Boge (Maryborough), and Mrs Geo Crooks (Bundaberg), while Mr J. H. Beyer (grandson) and Mr W. M. Boge (son-in-law), Pastor Fischer and Mrs Fischer were also in attendance. Pastor Fischer presided, and gave the toast of the evening, that of Mr and Mrs Mohr. In felicitons terms the pastor paid a warm tribute to the esteem in which the fine old couple were held in Maryborough, and congratulated them on having sixty years of wedded life. The couple were the recipients of many suitable gifts from their daughters and other relatives. Mr and Mrs Mohr are natives of Germany, and have been residents of Maryborough for 57 years. Mr Mohr was in the employ of Messrs Wilson, Hart &amp; Co., sawmillers, for 35 years.&quot;
