<div>Thursday, October 25, 2007 </div><p>Alessandra (Sue) DiMarco, 91, of Lakewood, N.J., who came to own the Staten Island insurance company where she began working, died Monday in Community Health Center, Toms River, N.J. </p><p>Born Alessandra Ciani in Manhattan, she lived in Philadelphia for a brief time before being brought to Meiers Corners as a child. She settled in Westerleigh in 1948. In 1981, she relocated to Leisure Village Adult Community, Lakewood, N.J.</p><p>After graduating from Curtis High School in 1935, Mrs. DiMarco went to work for the former Max Stern insurance agency in Tompkinsville. She eventually became owner of the company, which later became the John A. Lynch insurance agency and moved to West Brighton. She retired in the late 1970s when she sold the company. </p><p>Mrs. DiMarco was a charter member of Soroptimists and the Insurance Women's Club of Staten Island. </p><p>She was an avid reader and had an abiding interest in politics. She also was a "great cook" and enjoyed knitting, said her daughter, Joan Prezioso. </p><p>"I feel my mother was a real pioneer," said Mrs. Prezioso, noting her mother became a businesswoman at a time when many women did not enter the workforce. "She not only kept her business life in order, but she was a great wife, mother and grandmother. She was always there for everybody, very generous." </p><p>On Staten Island, Mrs. DiMarco was a parishioner of St. Rita's R.C. Church, Meiers Corners. </p><p>Her husband of 38 years, Anthony, died in 1975. </p><p>Sue (Ciani) DiMarco Sue DiMarco (nee Ciani), formerly of Staten Island on October 22, 2007. Mass of Christian Burial St. Rita's Church 10 A.M. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 P.M</p>
