<p>John was six years old when the family came to America. </p><p>John married Frieda in Dec 1900. Their first home was on Canfield Road, south of Higgins Road. John was a farmer all his life.</p><p> Cause of death for John wasBroncho-pneumonia due to Arteriosclerotic heart disease.</p><p>John Poehls is buried in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Linneman Rd., Mt. Prospect, IL (Elk Grove Township)</p><p>John moved from the farm in Norwood Park in 1922 to farm in Elk Grove Township, on Higgins Road.</p><p>Poehls family and Halterman family (Katie) were friends in Germany and some came to US on the same ship.</p><p>John and Frieda were married at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mayfair(Chicago). Freida's family lived across the road (Canfield) from the Poehls farm.</p><p>John Poehls was living at 5720 N. E. Circle Ave, Chicago, Il. at the time of his death, having moved into his brother's home after inheriting the property at the time of his brother's death. He and Katie lived at 1517 W. Oakdale Ave., Chicago after being married and also lived in Round Lake, IL until the time they moved to Circle Ave.</p><p>In 1936, John broke his back and after a lengthy recovery, he gained complete use and was able to do heavy work again.</p><p>John Poehls was a Lutheran.</p><p>From Lauretta Stade Voelkner: " Grandpa Poehls loved his grandchildren and would play with us whenever we visted. When we were little, he would hold out hands and let us climb us his legs and chest and then turn a somersault through his arms."</p>
